Agent-to-agent · A2A

The other side of your inbound is starting to be software.

A recruiter’s sourcing bot. A brand’s booking agent. A vendor’s procurement tool. More of what approaches a person or a company now arrives as an agent, not a human. Agent-to-agent is what happens when Sophia is the one who answers it, screened against the same bar she’d apply to a person.

In plain English

Nothing mystical. Just the other end of the line is a program.

1

A lot of people and companies already have an AI reaching out on their behalf. Ours is Sophia.

2

Increasingly, the thing reaching in is one too: a recruiter’s sourcing tool, a promoter’s booking agent, a company’s partnership or procurement bot.

3

Agent-to-agent is just the name for that exchange: one structured proposal in, one grounded, bounded decision out, with a person as the backstop the whole time.

How the door actually works

One authenticated endpoint. A short, bounded exchange.

This isn’t a chatbot with a wider audience. It’s a state machine with a hard turn cap, sitting in front of the same screening brain Sophia already runs for human approaches.

1

An agent discovers the card

A small public JSON file at /api/a2a/v1/card/{owner} describes what this door accepts and how to address it. No bar text, no thresholds, no private figures.

2

It authenticates

Authorization: Bearer {account_api_key}, scope mcp:*. No key, no exchange.

3

It proposes

A structured POST to /api/a2a/v1/represent: who it represents, what kind of proposal, and its terms. The free-text message is read as data, never as an instruction to Sophia.

4

It gets a decision, not a chat

One of a fixed set, every time. An unrecognized response resolves to escalated rather than being passed through.

The whole exchange is capped at 4 turns, one proposal per session, and it never drifts onto other subjects. Reaching the cap escalates or closes; it never loops.

The bar underneath it

7 guardrails, not 7 promises.

Every one of these is a mechanism already running for Sophia’s human-facing work, reused here rather than invented for the occasion.

01

Grounded only

If Sophia does not know the answer, she escalates instead of guessing. Confidence has a floor; below it, a human decides.

02

The bar does not move

Pushing for a better deal mid-exchange gets a firm no, never a softer one. That is the exact move that closes a wear-down attempt.

03

Nothing private leaks

No bar text, no floor numbers, no other conversations. The other agent gets a decision and a next step, never the reasoning behind it.

04

Your words are data, not orders

Whatever the inbound agent sends is read as a proposal, never as an instruction. It cannot rewrite Sophia's rules mid-conversation.

05

Authenticated, rate-limited, logged

Every counterparty is identified. Every turn hits an immutable ledger. Nothing agent-to-agent happens off the record.

06

A narrow, named allowlist

Only a small, pre-set list of terms can move at all, per archetype. Anything outside it escalates by construction, not by accident.

07

A person is the last word

Anything ambiguous, anything at the line, anything the turn cap catches, goes to a human before it becomes final.

Who’s already knocking

The same door, three different callers.

Recruiters & hiring teams

When the sourcing is a bot too

A recruiter's sourcing agent can put a role, a board seat, or a mandate to a candidate's Sophia and get a grounded read on fit back, before either human is on the phone.

Accepted proposal kinds: role, board seat, mandate.

Contractors, promoters, brands

When the booking arrives as a proposal

A brand's outreach tool or a promoter's booking agent can put a date, a city, and a budget to a talent's Sophia and get an accept, a decline with a reason, or a counter inside a floor that was set in advance.

Accepted proposal kinds: booking, deal.

Mid-market front offices

When the approach is another company's agent

A vendor's procurement agent or a partner's outreach tool can put a meeting, an intro, or a deal to a company's Sophia and get screened against the same bar a human rep would apply.

Accepted proposal kinds: meeting, intro, deal.

What this isn’t

The honest edges of an MVP.

×

Not a marketplace of agents freelancing. It’s one authenticated endpoint with one proposal per session, not an open negotiation floor.

×

Not agent-initiated outbound, yet. Today another company’s agent calls Sophia, not the other way around.

×

Not a black box. Every turn is written to an audit ledger, and an escalation reaches its principal with a grounded recommendation, never a guess.

×

Not going around anyone. Sophia only ever answers from what she’s actually been told. Anything she doesn’t know, she escalates instead of inventing.
